A toast to getting well
I have been under the weather for these couple of days. Nothing serious, you know, the usual fever, throat discomfort and unbelievably huge appetite. Which explains why I never lose weight when I am sick. Simply because I keep feeling bloody hungry. I suppose it is one way that my body copes with foreign virus. I'm not complaining because all these food help me to get back to my feet faster. A trip to the doctor revealed nothing serious. Yet. I was told that if my fever doesn't go down tomorrow, it might be a potential dengue fever case. Good lord. I had dengue fever before about 2 years ago and I did a little research back then that there are 4 stains of dengue virus and the chances of getting all four are as good as 0 and getting infected by the same stain is also 0. So I adopted the attitude of getting over and done with, rested at home for 2 weeks and loaded up on Godiva chocolate (courtesy of my sis from Alaska).
Apparently, the Aedes mosquitoes, the ones carrying the dengue fever virus, have evolved, now stronger than ever after the lets kill Aedes mosquitoes campaign on this island. So now instead of the 4 stains, ladies and gentlemen, we have 6. And a man was killed by the infection last week. Big thing ok, considering there are only 4million people on this island. There are just about so many ways to get killed. Like get bang by the train (like 5 people per year), heart attack (Number 1 killer here) or get ditched by your spouses (some people don't take news too well over here). Well, seem like God picked mine. Dengue Fever. How unglamorous.
I love cleanliness, and ironically this island is too clean. Our internal systems have evolved to have zero tolerance on whatever virus that is in the air. I mean look, even a mosquitoe kills us in here, don't even mention bird flu or mad cow. Chances are when you pick up a small virus, you take ages to recover. While people say in India, might just use the task manager to get rid of the virus, we need a full system restart over here.
Time for that 2nd lunch.

Secnd lunch. *looks longingly* I'm on a diet.
I hope that you recover quickly dengue is some scary stuff. Used to read a young lady's blog that succumbed to that disease.
Maybe there should be a mosquito registration program. Where to send them though?
Oh in Singapore we do that, we register every of our cockroaches, mosquitoes, lizards, etc, no illegal immigrants allowed.
Singapore is so much smarter than America. We just share their diseases.
